The department of Biological Sciences was established in 1972. During
this time, the department has developed the capability to provide teaching and research
facilities in a number of contemporary disciplines of biology.
The department is well
equipped with modern research facilities. It is one of the largest centers for research in
biological sciences among all the Universities of the country.
Laboratory Facilities include
two Microcomputer Laboratories, network based on Novell NetWare and Unix, connected to
University network via Sparc-5 based workstation. Access to Internet became available in
November 1996 and two IBM AS/400 systems in University Computer Centre are also
available for student work.
Several young teachers and
Ph.D. students of the Department had an opportunity to proceed abroad for research under
the DAAD or on Postdoctoral Fellowship. |
