ADMISSION NOTICE FOR MASTER’S PROGRAMMES – SPRING 2004

 

 

Applications are invited for admission to the Master's programs in the following subjects:-

Anthropology               Biological Sciences                Business Administration Chemistry                   Computer Science                  Defence Strategic Studies Earth Sciences           Economics                              Electronics History                         International Relations            Physics  Mathematics               Pakistan Studies                     Public Administration Political Studies          Psychology                             Statistics

ELIGIBILITY

The applicants must possess at least a second class Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized University subject to the condition that they meet the requirements of major subjects passed for the Bachelor’s degree as given in Appendix-A of the Prospectus. The candidates with Bachelor degrees requiring more than two years duration after intermediate such as BBA, B.Sc. (Hons.), B.C.S three years and B.Ed or professional degree holders viz. MBBS, B.Sc. Engg. B.E. B.Sc.(Pharmacy,) Agriculture, Marine Technology and Naval Sciences will also be eligible to apply for admission to M.Sc. Programme subject to the condition that they meet the subjects requirement & will not claim any exemption/relaxation in the courses of studies or duration of studies (two years/4 semesters).

Admission will be made on merit, subject to the regional quota. Merit will be determined on the basis of Intermediate and Degree level academic record according to the formula given in the prospectus.

 

INELIGIBILITY

Candidates who are more than 26 years old shall not be eligible for admission unless relaxation is granted by the Vice-Chancellor for special reasons on the recommendations of the Chairman.

 

APTITUDE TEST FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE ONLY

            For admission to Computer Science, applicants will be required to take an aptitude test and pass it with at-least 40% marks. Only those who pass the aptitude test will be considered for admission which will be determined purely on merit basis without giving any credit to the test score. The test will be held in the Gymnasium of the University on 19.1.2004 at  10.00 A.M.

 

SEATS AVAILABLE ON SELF-FINANCED BASIS

Ten additional seats on self-financed basis filled strictly on merit would be offered in each discipline except in Pakistan Studies & Psychology where fifteen & twenty seats respectively would be on self- financed basis.

 

RESERVED SEATS

One seat in each department of the University has been reserved for admission of the children of Army Personnel and would be offered ONLY on the nomination of GHQ.

One seat is reserved for Minorities for admission in each department of the University subject to production of certificate from the Institution last attended that candidate belongs to the Minority Community.

 

DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED WITH THE APPLICATION FORM

Application forms in triplicate and a Summary Sheet, duly filled in and supported by three attested copies of all Academic Certificates and Marks Sheets of Matric, F.A/F.Sc., B.A/B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, Hifz-i-Qur'an, Character, Domicile, candidate's & father's/guardian's National Identity Cards, no objection certificate (in case of in-service candidates) and five (5) Passport size photographs should reach the Admission Office of the University by 12.1.2004 during office hours. Applications received after this date and time, through any means and incomplete applications will not be entertained.

 

DISPLAYING OF MERIT LIST

The merit list of the selected candidates for interviews will be displayed on the University Notice Board only and no call letters will be sent on their postal addresses. The first merit list will be displayed on 26.1.2004.

Those selected for interviews shall be required to submit original certificates, an affidavit on a stamp paper to the effect that his/her certificates are genuine and in case the same are found fake/bogus/tampered, the University have the right to cancel his/her admission and initiate legal action against him/her and another affidavit in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court. EQUIVALENCE CERTIFICATES AND CONVERSION OF GRADES INTO MARKS

Candidates having obtained certificates/degrees from foreign Universities/ Institutions should provide equivalence certificates and conversion of the Grades into marks from Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad for bachelor level degrees and from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen for Matric and Intermediate level certificates without which foreign degrees/certificates will not be accepted.

Certificates/Degrees obtained from local Universities/Institutions with GPA also require conversion of grades into marks from the concerned Universities/Institutions/HEC.

 

PROSPECTUS AND APPLICATION FORM

The Prospectus along-with a set of admission forms can be obtained from the Manager, Book Bank/Bookshop of the University by depositing the fee or by sending a crossed Postal Order in favour of the Treasurer, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. The fee for admission forms with Prospectus is Rs.500/- for single option of subject and Rs.100/- for each additional option(s) to be recorded on the Admission Data Summary Sheet. Requests for application forms through mail must be addressed to the Manager, Book Bank/Bookshop of the University accompanied with a postal order/pay order of Rs.550/-.

In case an applicant is applying in more than one subject from out-station, he must submit a postal order of Rs. 100/- for each of the additional option(s) along with the application form. However, applying in person additional option(s) fee can be deposited in the HBL, University Campus Branch. No separate application forms are required if applying for more than one subject.

 

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION

A limited number of seats in the University Hostels are available which will be provided on first come first served basis.
