Masters Program    M.phil Program    Ph.D Program

   Masters Program:

 
  • M.Sc. Project/Thesis/Seminar/Research Report and Master Essay which is of 6 credits or more shall be evaluated by an external examiner, the internal Examiner/Supervisor and the chairman of the department concerned.
  • The external examiner will be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from the approved panel of examiners, on the recommendation of the chairman.

 


   M.Phil Program:

  • Dissertation of 26 credits based on research shall normally be completed by the end of the fourth semester.
  • Each JRA shall work under the supervision of a person appointed for the purposed by the Advanced Studies and Research Board on the recommendations of the Chairman of the Department and the Dean of thtion approved by the Supervisor to the Controller of Examinations before the viva-voice examination. The bound copy will be deposited by the Controller of Examination in the Library of the concerned Department.

   Ph.D Program:

          The thesis submitted by the candidate for Ph.D. degree must comply with the following conditions:

  • It must form a distinct contribution to knowledge and afford evidence of originality, shown either by the discovery of new facts or by the exercise of independent critical judgement.
  • It must not include research work for which a degree has been conferred on him in this or any other University.
  • It must be written in English and the presentation must be satisfactory for publication.
  • Any part of the thesis which has been published before submission of the thesis may be appended at the end of the thesis.
  • The thesis must be bound in accordance with the following specification.
    • Quarts approximately 10 inches, except for drawing and maps on which no restriction is placed. A margin of 3/2 inches to be left on the left hand side. Bound in standard size form i.e cloth edges un-cut, lettered boldly up back in gold (5/4 inch letters).

   APPOINTMENT OF SUPERVISOR:

  • The Advanced Studies and Research Board will appoint a Supervisor (and a Co-supervisor, if necessary) and approve the field of research at the time when the admission of the student to Ph.D. program is approved by the Advanced Studies and Research Board.
  • The Advanced Studies and Research Board will approve:
    • The outline of research which the student proposes to undertake for the preparation of thesis.
    • The specific title of the thesis. Both, the research proposal and the title must be submitted by the student to the Advanced Studies and Research Board with in one year after the registration.

   BIANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT:

  • The Supervisor of a Ph.D. student shall submit a detailed report by 30th June and 31st December each year on the progress of the student for the consideration of the Advanced Studies and Research Board.
  • In case of two consecutive adverse reports, the Advanced Studies and Research Board may cancel the registration of the candidate.
