The
career counselling center is the official Quaid-i-Azam University career guidance office.
It works in close collaboration with British Counsel and American Education
Foundation. Its main purpose is to counsel students about higher education. It also
aim to match students aptitude with the demands of the prevailing job market.
C.C.C. counselors guide students to gainfully utilize their time on
campus to develop curriculum vitae that include both work experience and academic
credentials. It also holds workshop for skill enhancement. The C.C.C. centralizes
information on fellowships, internships, part time employment, skill enhancement and
volunteering opportunities for QAU students, faculty and staff.
The C.C.C. is a focal point where students, prospective employers and
concerned institutions interact on a common and open platform. Specific C.C.C.
services are as follows:
Counseling
to choose higher education, skill development.
Announcement
of scholarships, fellowships, stipend and so forth.
Counseling
for curriculum vitae writing.
Listing
of full and part-time job vacancies and internships.
Mock
interviews to improve students presentations, expression and other skills for interviews.
Awareness
sessions to make students responsible community members.
"Job
fairs" or meetings for interaction between prospective employers and students.
The C.C.C. has a non-hierarchical structure. A concerned volunteer
coordinates the activities of the counselors, interns, student volunteers and staff
comprising an administrator/accountant and an office attendant. C.C.C. counselors
are senior QAU faculty and other experienced volunteers. A team of student interns and
volunteers assists in project management, fundraising and other tasks.
The C.C.C.
aims to limit the uncertainty that students feel about their future, make them responsible
community leaders and further the goal of global peace.
