The Area Study Centre, established in 1978, is an autonomous teaching and research institution in the University It offers M.Phil. program in American Studies. The aim is to study contemporary societies in America and Africa. The centers regularly holds seminars and symposia, brings out a biannual Pakistan Journals of American Studies and publishes books and monographs. The center has a library with over 7,000 volumes, a good microfilm collection and subscribes to a number of research journals.
