The department of International Relations started functioning in January 1973 offering M.Sc. degree in International Relations. Course revision were undertaken in 1978, 1982 and 1986.The department now offers specialization in the varied fields of International Relations. The department started its M.Phil. program in 1986 while the Ph.D. program got underway in 1991.
          With respect to the program, faculty and research work, the department has earned a respectable place among national and international academic circles. The main focus on research is on problems related to Pakistan and international relations of South Asia.
          The performance of teachers is quite impressive. Some of the faculty members also participate regularly in national and international conferences, seminars and work shops. Many of the teachers were involved by various academic and professional institutions to lecture, teach and offer seminars etc.
