The department was established in 1975. The department currently offers M.Sc. program in
the morning and M.Sc. program on self finance basis in the evening. The department has the
best teaching faculty among the Universities in the Country, with most of the staff
holding degrees from abroad. Its M.Sc. program is a balanced blend of theory and practice,
and prepares its graduates for higher studies in Computer Science, and to undertake
software development as a Profession. Students are exposed the new topics
and technologies in spite of the local financial constraints.
The University has played a leading
role in introducing teaching of subjects such as Software Engineering, Human Computer
Interface, Networks and compiler design. Laboratories facilities include two micro
computer laboratories, Networks based on Novell Netware and Unix, connected to University
Network Via Sparc-5 based workstation.
The areas of faculty members
interest include Human Computer Interface, Hypermedia, Programming Languages, Object
Oriented Programming, Parallel Computing Design, Expert System, Computer Graphics and
Management Information System.
